As parents of newborns transition their infant from breast milk or formula to soft foods to eventually regular food, they need to be extra cautious about allergic reactions their child might have to certain foods. This might manifest itself initially as mild reactions like runny nose, watery eyes, coughing or vomiting, but it's hard to distinguish allergic reactions sometimes from just normal infant behavior when they're under one year. My sister has a child who is allergic to nuts although it was hard to tell for sure at first. Peanut butter seemed to cause the child to become ill, so they took him to a specialist for testing and it turns out he was allergic to nuts and several other foods.
